THE MIDDLETON EXECUTIVE TEAM
Executive Director: Debbie Hartshorn
Debbie sets the tone at Middleton with a mix of healthcare experience and a passion for senior care. She holds a BS in Accounting from The Ohio State University and is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. She also began working in healthcare from the age of 15 when she was hired to work in the kitchen. Debbie spent 20 years caring for seniors in skilled nursing environments, then opened and operated a hospice service. Her philosophy? Have a vision for what is possible, then surround yourself with people who have a positive attitude. Debbie and her husband Tregg have two sons, who she loves to include in her work.
Community Relations Director: Max Kirby
Max was born and raised in the Philippines where she earned her BA in Communications from the University of the Philippines and her MBA from the De La Salle University Graduate School of Business. After traveling to the states for vacation, she relocated to Illinois where she became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Max lives in Granville with her husband, Peter and her two children and considers it a great honor to be introduced by residents and residents’ family members as a friend. “This is a close-knit community. We make everyone feel like family.” Max was awarded the 2017 Honoring Excellence Award by the Ohio Assisted Living Association.
Move-in Coordinator: Kelly Schwartz
Kelly has been an LPN serving the geriatric population for more than 25 years. She has been awarded the Hospice of Central Ohio Compassionate Care Partner Award and is a Certified Dementia Practitioner. She has also been the caregiver and decision-maker for a family member with dementia.
“I understand and empathize with families when they need to make difficult decisions. You have questions and often need reassurance you are making the right choice. I am honored to be in the position to help families learn all of their options and the ways we can support them and their loved one. Your family will be met with deep, genuine caring by our staff. And we will go above and beyond to make your loved one feel comfortable and happy.” Kelly and her husband, Mark have been married for 38 years, and are blessed to have two daughters/son-in-laws and five grandsons.
Wellness Director: Lynn Eitel
Lynn received her LPN-IV from Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) and is Wound Care Certified. She chose Middleton because she believes in the strong leadership of Debbie Hartshorn and that everyone at Middleton is one big extended family. She finds some of her most rewarding moments to be in her connections with residents, holding a hand, speaking with compassion and sharing fun or quiet moments. Lynn and her husband live in Newark, OH with her three boys. Lynn was awarded the 2017 Honoring Excellence Award by the Ohio Assisted Living Association.
Executive Chef: Stephanie Sabin
Stephanie graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute at Bradford. She started with Traditions at Middleton as a night cook and through education and experience, worked her way up to the Executive Chef position.
“I’ve always loved to cook and knew this was what I wanted to do in life from the time I was little. Traditions feels like a family and we all encourage each other to be our best. I like knowing that I’m cooking for an important audience and a higher purpose.” Stephanie lives in Mount Perry with her boyfriend and black lab, Bandit.
Activities Director: Cheryl Houser
Cheryl graduated from the University of Dayton with a BS in Education. She has numerous years in teaching from kindergarten to middle school, loves to be creative, bring people together and plan interesting events.
Cheryl has three amazing daughters, a husband of 26 years and a miniature Schnauzer. In her spare time, she likes to walk, read, hike and visit with family.
Maintenance Manager: Ed Renicker
Ed has proudly been doing maintenance work for 35 years and considers Middleton his dream job. He has come to know and love the residents, ensuring he takes care of their needs and gets the job done right, something that’s very important to him. Ed was born and raised in Newark, OH, has two sisters, one brother and four beloved dog babies (three Yorkies and one Poodle). He also happens to be a big fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Business Office Manager: Kim Van Wey
Kim has an extensive background in accounting and medical billing, is a Notary Public and has an Accounting/Computing certificate from the Knox County Career Center. She was born in Mt. Vernon, OH and raised on a small farm in Bladensburg. Today, Kim is married to Keven and resides in Newark with their four Siamese cats. One of the favorite parts of her job at Middleton is the time she spends listening to residents’ life stories and learning more about them.
